Controversy is all around us. If we're honest, it is also in us. We cannot get away from it in this world.

As we consider the source of the controversy at hand, we need to look down. Often controversy comes from another person, but let us not be distracted from our true enemy.

Even when there are behaviors that are unacceptable, we need to look beyond that person first, to address our true adversary: the prince of the power of the air (PPoA) and all the spiritual forces of evil (SFoE) who follow him.

As we read scriptures like, Psalm 37:1-13 (ESV), it makes a difference:

"Fret not yourself because of evildoers [SFoE];

be not envious of wrongdoers [SFoE]!

2For they [the SFoE] will soon fade like the grass

and wither like the green herb."

If we read this passage thinking of the persons who are connected with controversy in our lives, it can encourage us to wait expectantly for the people to experience something that is harmful to them.

If instead, we read this from a perspective of spiritual eyes, we can await the triumph of Jesus, our King!

So when others come against us, we must first look down: Our real adversaries are spirits who seek to do us harm. Then, we can look up in hope and prayer to Jesus, our King and our Redeemer. He is sustaining us now -- and His victory is at hand!
